Begun in 1953 by George B. Barber, he would take photos of Navy ships from his plane to sell to the crew when they arrived back in port. Taking pictures between San Diego and Long Beach, and occasionally traveling to Pearl Harbor, San Francisco and other ports of call he has taken over 3,000 photos of Navy ships, providing the single largest collection on the West Coast. We just recently archived the negatives to digital and will beupdating our site offering these and other items from our military collection.
